As pleased as I am to know that Marcus Icke has read at least two of my articles, I must say that I am disappointed in the strength of his argument against them.
Feel free to read his comments in this apparent rebuttal to my comment that if he can place airplanes in space, he should be able to look straight down on them using the very same software.
In his article, he claims that I have miscalculated an angle by 10 degrees. His claim is based on using Flight Simulator 2004 software to recreate a CBS frame. Using the placement of the Empire State Building relative to the twin towers, he claims that the actual angle of the camera relative to the face of WTC2 is 2 degrees, as opposed to the 11.59 degrees that I had calculated.
Although I agree that the “blooming” he refers to is a potential source of error in my calculation, at an average of 1.6 or so degrees per miscounted pixel, there is no way that “blooming” can account for a 6 pixel miscount.
There are multiple problems with Marcus’ method of arriving at his angle calculation, but before I go there, I’d like to openly ruminate regarding the intent behind his rebuttal.
Icke’s Motive:
Although cleverly worded and very accurately mimicking my presentation format, even down to the font selection – there seems to be malicious intent behind the article. If the inciting phraseology behind this intent was “Something has always bothered me about the work of Marcus Icke and Stephan Grossman,” then this type of rebuttal seems a tad overzealous to be a “tit-for-tat” exchange.
What makes this interesting is that Marcus Icke has authored an entire sequence of articles which are linked to under the title “The WTC2 Media Hoax.” To the best of my recollection, it was simply “Ghostgun UA175” a few months ago.
So I will dare to ask this simple question: How can you call something a media hoax without blaming the media?
Here, Marcus Icke states “If a Boeing 767-200 had hit the tower it would have exploded externally and bent the facade inward noticeably while depositing pieces of fuselage, wings, tail fins...etc in the streets below. There would have been some column damage but it would have been virtually impossible for any of the lighter airframe sections to pass completely through the tower.”
Except for the “bend the façade inward noticeably” part, this is true (only the engines and landing gear would have bent anything).
So if we agree, why is Icke on the offensive? Perhaps the answer may be scattered throughout his articles…
Icke Defends the MSM:
At first glance, you might jump to the conclusion that Marcus Icke is referring to the same Media Hoax/TV-Fakery that I’ve been going on and on about. However, if you follow all the links on his “WTC2 Media Hoax” page, he only attacks the amateur footage.
Then, in his rebuttal to my “The Earth is Not Flat” article, he actually DEFENDS the CBS footage – using amateur footage in an attempt to validate his claim (how funny is that?).
The only way that the media can be absolved, given the impossibility of a plane cutting through the south tower, is if they can use holograms as an excuse. To the best of my knowledge, Icke and Grossman are the only two people on this planet who are still spewing hologram stories.
The different flight paths are what rule out holograms, which is exactly why Icke “can’t” look down on all of his planes, because they’re all in different places.
The REAL Media Hoax:
I have no problem with being proven wrong. I’ve been meaning to add a note to my Pinocchio article regarding the “Live CGI Insertion” section. Although it is possible that they could have used Sportvision technology, the Moving Bridge, the Spinning WTC, and other footage clearly shows that bluescreen technology was used to bring 9/11 to our television sets.
So how valid is ANY calculation that relates the location of the Empire State Building to WTC2, after seeing this?
And how accurate do you suppose Icke’s “2 degree” calculation is after you look at a CBS pan-out?Why is Icke’s WTC7 so far left of the CBS version? Why is every other building out of place? It must be all that “blooming,” right?
Conclusion:
Marcus Icke should be commended. Were it not for his work, we may not have had enough information with which to rule out holograms.
Of course he has to defend the MSM footage. Of course he has to attack anyone who presents evidence of TV-Fakery. Even when he (very recently) “questions” the ABC “Live” footage, his language is “Fetzeresque:”
“Unless this stepping effect can be explained as a byproduct of the video recording process or an aerodynamic consequence of high speed flight then the Live Video can not be showing us a real aircraft. It is conceivable that the aircraft has been dubbed live into the video to conceal what was actually there and that this stepping effect could be the hallmark of the video technology that was utilised for this effect.”
Of course, Icke doesn’t date any of his work – which may explain why the second sentence sounds like it was written as a direct result of reading the “Live CGI Insertion” section of my Pinocchio article.
I have to give Marcus Icke credit for trying to be funny. Unfortunately for him, his weak defense of his own stance ends up being funnier than his mockery attempt.
Note:
Forgive me if I’ve made assumptions as to what Marcus’ stance actually is, but I’ve yet to see a single conclusion in any of his articles.

Hey Still Diggin--
I have long linked to your site under "Useful and Recommended 9/11 Sites" and the link is still there.
I think you have done some nice work. But in fact I was bloggin on video fakery long before you, and I have written far more articles talking about no-planes than you. Please look through my archives if you don't believe me. So I don't need any lectures from you on this.
As far as how I talk about TV fakery/video fakery, I refer to it in different ways, depending on the audience I think is reading. I try not to take for granted that my audience believes everything I say automatically and so I try to craft language that will be more appealing to people who might be on the fence.
I think there is no doubt there was live video fakery used on 9/11, and that no conventional plane hit the south tower.
But I don't pretend to know exactly what happened or how exactly they did it.
I still think the FOIA filing would be useful, even if it doesn't prove anything.
As far as Icke, I think he has done nice work. I don't agree with everything he says, and I think his piece attacking you was a bit over the top. But I also think some of his points are good, which is why I linked to the piece.
I still don't understand why so many people in 9/11 get so damn touchy about every little thing. Good luck building any consensus and getting any justice when you can't even be reasonable with someone who basically agrees with your extremely rare view of 9/11.
Spooked,
Thanks for your tempered reply. I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of my character flaws.
I also concede that just about everybody who has been at this has been at it longer than me.
I can't speak for everyone else, but the reason I get touchy is because the only thing I absolutely and positively KNOW is that no planes crashed into the World Trade Center.
It's like you having a son that you named Brian, and every time I come over to your house, I call him Dave.
You insist to me that you should know because you named him yourself, but I argue that he could still be Dave.
Should it matter if I'm older and I've met more kids than you have?
Even in your comment, you use the phrase "no conventional plane hit the south tower."
That statement is absolutely maddening to me. What is the logic behind an unconventional plane hitting the south tower?
Do you think planes crashed in Shanksville or at the Pentagon?
If you don't believe that planes crashed in Shanksville or at the Pentagon, then we have some extra hijackers to account for, don't we?
Or do we just mentally throw them on the other planes to balance it out?
But wait - the other planes may not be "conventional," so do they take passengers?
Intentionally or not, you are part of the reason why my position is so "extremely rare." You take your readers to the waters edge, and then you try to sell them Coke.
I don't take for granted that my audience believes everything I say either, but I know what I know - and I'm certainly not going to lie to them to make them feel better.
Take a second and read my Theresa Renaud or Richard Davis article (if you haven't yet). Ask yourself why these people are on the air, lying their asses off.
Ask yourself why all these fake videos with planes in them exist in the first place.
Ask yourself why they are using layered bluescreen on the NETWORKS.
It's just illogical to go through all that trouble to try to hide an "unconventional" plane.
You've either got planes or plane-shaped holes stuck in your brain that you need to purge if you're going to start making sense.
I have much more tolerance for people who just don't understand Newton's Third Law than I do for someone who can get past that part, and then start shooting blanks when it comes to the media being used as a weapon.
You've gone through all that trouble to get the kids to WallyWorld. All you have to do now is get past John Candy and get on the damn rides.
When you take that step, I'll be more than happy to put a link to your site in my right hand margin.
In fact, I look forward to that day.
As far as my comment about not being linked, I retract my complaint. And if you don't believe that what I'm saying is true, please remove me.
As far as the FOIA filing, it certainly can't hurt. But if we don't expose the media, we'll just be leaving the bullets in the gun for the next guy to use.
I'm all out of metaphors, similes, and analogies - so I guess I'm done.
Good luck breaking through the last bit of logic between your current perspective and the truth.
SD
What to make of Icke's complaint that it's too difficult to change the perspective on his reconstructions? Does he mean that he tried and failed? He seems to be saying that he hasn't tried. If a change in perspective put the planes out of place, would that be a failure, proof that his reconstructions are invalid, or a sign of video fakery?
I've fallen into the "no conventional plane" line of argument by saying that only some kind of specially reinforced plane could penetrate the towers as shown. I don't even know if that is true -- whether such a plane could even fly, and whether it could penetrate with no apparent resistance from the building. In order to account for witnesses that say they saw a plane, it's easier to think that there was something there, even a missile, that was covered up with a faked video.
I now wonder if those plane-shaped holes are even real. The building is gone, and all we have is videos and photos that could have been faked as well.
Your witness analyses have become more convincing to me -- they do seem scripted.
I should clarify -- the plane-shaped holes were photographed from a distance by what appear to be independent photographers, and were really there, but some of the closeups could have been altered. The holes could have been created from the inside, and closeup photos altered if necessary to fit the official story. From a distance, the holes look like black smudges.

Regarding the alleged collision of UA175 with WTC2.
I have been consulting Resnick and Halliday, the elementary physics textbook. Energy or momentum; use either - it depends on the problem. In a collision, momentum (mass x velocity) equals average force times the duration of the impact. Actually the absolute force is a differential function with respect to time and is probably non-computable. But, since every force has a reactive force, what breaks what is not exactly which is harder - it is: Is the force sufficient? Is the force of the plane on the tower sufficient to break it? Is the force of the tower on the plane sufficient to break it? After the collision the Law of Conservation of Momentum determines the velocities of the pieces (summed).
This is how NIST_NCSTAR_1 [Chapter 6] does the calculation, and while you don't have to believe their result (they were acting under the official paradigm), they were following correct method. Actually they are somewhat ambivalent about it (without fuel wing breaks, with fuel building breaks).
(Parody of textbook analysis: Pitch an orange at a baseball bat with a weakened handle - splatter and broken piece of bat flies foul.)
Right now I have had a further thought which is independent of the planes question.
I became alarmed when Steven E. Jones in "Revisiting 9/11/2001 --Applying the Scientific Method", unfairly rubbished Pons and Fleischmann while apparently re-doing their work under his own name - as a high-school chemistry student can see.
"How can one prevent neutrons from coming out of deuteron-deuteron fusion?" [p.3 (57)]
(Answer: 1D2 + 1D2 -> 2He4 + Energy due to mass deficit - The sum of the atomic weights of two deuterium atoms is greater than the atomic weight of a helium atom. This energy is in accord with E = mc^2, some kind of radiant energy - but to postulate an excess neutron is stoichiometric nonsense. 1D2 + 1T3 -> 2He4 + 0n1 + Energy - i.e. a deuterium plus a tritium has an extra neutron.)
Say that this is a pointer to the fact that there are deuterium bombs which have micro-trigger fuses based on neutron beams. (Lawrence Livermore have been working on them for decades and until recently were quite open with decades old unclassified material - but have become unfriendly so getting at it is tedious; Cornell has a working Physics Papers archive, no specific link - a rush will only alarm them.) These, unlike traditional fusion fission thermonuclear bombs, can be arbitrarily large or small. No significant neutron products make them invisible to Geiger counters, and perhaps most conventional detectors.
Then to get them into the building needs a senior supervisor in the know, but not completely. "We're sending in some crates of maintenance material. No need to open them yet, they are only work." So they get delivered to maintenance floors throughout the complex.
I've been following the t.v.-fakery on 911 Researchers for a while, and it is interesting. I suppose the stations could say, "Look it's a real scramble for feed and sometimes we make it up. What's new?"

is it possible to have the buildings in the foreground and the buildings in the background both be in focus simultaneously?

This is all excellent stuff, but look, re. the Evan Fairbanks Monitor Theory, are we all on the same page with regard to the fact that the monitor image is inverted? Up is down in the monitor picture - as is evident from the reversal of all the plane shadows and highlights in the monitor image... or was this too obvious to be worth mentioning? I suspect not, since, though the dust/explosion cloud appears to match, it is of somewhat indeterminate shape, and cannot in fact be the cloud pointed to on the monitor, since the corresponding cloud would be below the plane on the inverted monitor image, not above it. Similarly, we should revise our assessment of the explosion mushrooming from the east face, since on the monitor we're looking below the entry level of the plane, while in the view of the actual tower we're looking above it.
